IFF Transponder

The Model MD500L IFF Transponder is an L-Band augmentation device ideally suited for use in aerial target drones, unmanned vehicles, and cruise missiles as a radar enhancement device to provide automatic radar identification in response to interrogations from L-Band IFF and Air Traffic Control (ATC) radars. It also supports Mode C (altitude reporting) operation.

It features a modern compact design with less than 90 cubic inches (1,475 cubic centimeters) volume and weighs <4.25 lbs (~1.9 kilograms) which is 35% smaller than previous versions. The transponder incorporates the latest in solid state electronics design and features a 400 watt nominal peak power output. It also features IFF/TACAN blanking and suppression, reverse polarity power lead protection, and has a built-in duplexer for single antenna operation. Also, the transponder was designed with both front panel and remote reply code selection for greater convenience and ease of use. The L-Band IFF meets MIL-STD-810 requirements and is designed to operate over the temperature range of -40° C to +71° C.
