WFI to Implement Tactical Survey(TM) Security Technology for Alaska Airport
SAN DIEGO, June 15, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ — Wireless Facilities, Inc. (WFI) (Nasdaq: WFII), a global leader in the design, deployment, and management of wireless communication networks, technology networks and security systems, announced today that it has been selected by the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to implement its Tactical Survey(TM) security tool. Tactical Survey is a computer-based technology developed by WFI and its partner, Tactical Survey Group, Inc. (TSG) of Crestline, Ca.
Together, WFI and TSG provide a tool that assists law enforcement and first responders in responding to or training for a security or safety incident. Tactical Survey(TM) provides three-dimensional tactical images of a building and its immediate surroundings. The Ted Steven Anchorage International Airport (ANC) project covers approximately 1 million square feet of property with several buildings, including the main passenger terminal and the fuel farm and associated pump houses. The Tactical Survey product presents a 360-degree virtual tour of a facility, providing a way for security, law enforcement, firefighting and other life-saving personnel to ‘see through’ doors, walls and around corners. The images displayed by Tactical Survey are embedded with related tactical information, such as location of valve shutoffs, hazardous materials and key personnel. Any image can be selected to display the related information.
The entire effort was made possible and funded through the Department of Defense’s Technical Support Working Group (TSWG), an office of the DoD charged with bringing cutting-edge technologies to a broad spectrum of government agencies with specialized security requirements.
“Tactical Survey was designed with high security facilities in mind, like government buildings and airports, to create the optimal safety environment for all areas of operations within a highly complex organization,” said Steve Roth, President of WFI’s Government Services Division. “These types of organizations select our technology knowing that the most successful emergency-preparedness plan is a well-trained team of first responders with the most effective security tool in place.”
“As one of the largest cargo airports in the world, having a well designed procedure for emergency responders is essential to maintaining optimal safety measures,” said John Parrott, Deputy Director for the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. “Tactical Survey provides the airport with the ability to oversee the safe and secure operations of critical areas of the airport campus. The airport looks forward to having this security tool in place as a significant part of our plan to continuously improve and enhance our aviation security and emergency teams.”
