The Kratos Flight Termination System (FTS) is a rack-mounted unit designed for use with unmanned aerial vehicles, missile systems, and aerial target drones. It complies with IRIG 313-01 and 319-07 standards and provides command and control functions for terminating or managing flights during test or operational missions.
The system accepts AC power and produces a modulated RF output used to communicate with compatible flight-termination receivers such as the Herley HFTR60. The front panel includes protected MONITOR, ARM, and DESTRUCT switches for controlling up to two airborne vehicles, along with indicators and a meter for monitoring system status and power input.
An optional backup battery can maintain operation for up to 15 minutes. The FTS generates command tones internally and transmits a carrier signal continuously at startup. MONITOR and ARM can be activated independently, while DESTRUCT requires ARM to be engaged first. Utilizing modular components and a variety of custom features, the Kratos FTS is designed to provide mission flexibility and enhance range safety procedures.
