SAN DIEGO, Aug. 10, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that its Public Safety & Security Solutions Division has recently been awarded a contract to install a state-of-the-art surveillance and security system at a high priority critical infrastructure transportation site in the United States. The security system deployment will include a specialized thermal imaging camera system for a major U.S. rail facility.
The security system design includes solar-powered thermal imaging cameras deployed at various sites and locations throughout the transit network and infrastructure and includes a wireless IP radio system for the integration of security system communications elements with a centralized command and control location. The command and control center also includes specialized video management software. This critical infrastructure networks security and rail operations personnel will utilize the thermal imaging system to view and monitor virtually every facility location within the network, including remote dispatch centers. The program was funded in part with Department of Homeland Security funds.
Kratos has also recently been selected as the provider for the next phase of this security system network deployment, which will include additional thermal imaging cameras and capabilities, specialized high resolution IP pan/tilt and zoom cameras, solar power technology and secure IP radio communications gear.
Additionally, Kratos was recently selected to provide design, engineering, deployment and integration work for a separate but related rail system security infrastructure program. Under this program, Kratos is designing a very specialized security and surveillance system for additional transportation network security, including security coverage for certain tunnels. This security system program deployment includes thermal imaging cameras, software and fiber optics IP communications gear. Due to certain customer related and other sensitivities, no additional information is provided for these contract awards.
