Kratos Zeus SRM

Zeus Solid Rocket Motors

The Kratos-developed Zeus family of solid rocket motors (SRMs) responds to the urgent need for cost-effective launch vehicle stages for hypersonic testing, missile targets, sounding rockets, and national security missions. Zeus 1 and Zeus 2 SRMs offer vastly improved performance while maintaining legacy SRM form factors, thereby easing new technology integration, including with Kratos’ Erinyes and Dark Fury hypersonic flyers. Leveraging proven technology, Zeus SRMs enable faster, farther, and more frequent flights at reduced costs.

Zeus 1 & Zeus 2

Zeus 1 and Zeus 2, 32.6-inch solid rocket motors (SRMs), are affordable replacements for government surplus motors of the same weight class that are no longer available due to dwindling or aging inventories. Zeus 1 is used as first and second stage for sounding rockets, target vehicles, suborbital rockets, and hypersonic and sled track testing; Zeus 2 is used as first, second, and third stage.

Zeus SRMs, designed with high safety factors and improved performance over legacy spin-stabilized sounding rocket motors, offer more science time, greater range, and higher speeds.

Kratos Oriole Rocket System

Oriole Rocket Motor System

Kratos’ Oriole Rocket Motor System provides stage propulsion to a family of suborbital launch systems for targets, scientific, and microgravity research payloads. The Oriole Rocket System includes a fully redundant, digital ignition module that provides safe motor ignition and initiation of additional payload events. The Oriole System also features an optional “drop-in” trapped-ball nozzle and actuation system for thrust vector control during motor burn. The Oriole’s high-strength empennage section accommodates a range of fin spans to ensure stability throughout flight.

Oriole Rocket System

The Oriole Rocket System is used as first, second, or third stage in various launch configurations. It supports sea-level and high-altitude ignition, handles high acceleration and aerodynamic heating, and is compatible with rotational environments. The Oriole System also features an optional “drop-in” trapped-ball nozzle and actuation system for thrust vector control during motor burn.
