Since the inception of the Command and Control System – Consolidated (CCS-C) program in 2001, experts from Kratos Integral Systems have been working in close partnership with the United States Air Force (USAF) to develop satellite ground systems that increase efficiencies, cut costs and decrease staffing requirements. CCS-C’s mission is to provide consolidated Military SATCOM tracking, telemetry and command capability for 14th Air Force and 50th Space Wing launch and early orbit, on orbit and anomaly resolution operations.
The technology behind the program’s success is Kratos' commercial-based EPOCH Integrated Product Suite (IPS) satellite fleet management solution. With EPOCH IPS, the USAF has been able to consolidate satellite command and control operations of some 20 USAF satellites into a single, full-featured, state-of-the-art ground system. For example, the USAF has been able to dramatically increase efficiencies and reduce operator workload and crew size by relying on EPOCH IPS’s customizable Task Automated Operations (TAO) system.
The CCS-C program is responsible for command and control system development for all MILSATCOM systems, including five Military Strategic and Tactical Relay (Milstar), nine Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS), three Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) and one Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellites. Ultimately, the CCS-C program will control more than 26 military communications satellites across four families, using state-of-the-art commercial telemetry, tracking and commanding (TT&C) technology.
